Engine Immobilizer System (w/ Smart Key System)
THEFT DETERRENT / KEYLESS ENTRY: ENGINE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM (w/ Smart Key System): TERMINALS OF ECU
1. CHECK ENGINE SWITCH
(a) Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Inspection with Engine Switch Off
* *1: for Automatic Transaxle
* *2: for Manual Transaxle
Inspection of Waveforms of Communication Signals between Engine Switch and Certification ECU (Smart Key ECU Assembly)
* *1: for Automatic Transaxle
* *2: for Manual Transaxle
HINT
*3: Remove the transmitter battery before performing this inspection.
(b) Inspect using an oscilloscope.
NOTICE:
The waveform shown in the illustration is an example for reference only. Noise, chattering, etc. are not shown.
(1) Waveform 1 (Reference)
Measurement Condition
* *1: for Automatic Transaxle
* *2: for Manual Transaxle
(2) Waveform 2 (Reference)
Measurement Condition

HINT
*3: Remove the transmitter battery before performing this inspection.
(3) Waveform 3 (Reference)
Measurement Condition
* *1: for Automatic Transaxle
* *2: for Manual Transaxle
2. CHECK CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY)
(a) Disconnect the C35 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
(b) Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
* *: In order to prevent the battery from being depleted when the vehicle is shipped long distances, a fuse that cuts unnecessary electrical load while the vehicle is being shipped is set in the circuit. If the fuse is removed, the circuit becomes open. If the fuse between the battery and terminal CUTB is removed and the circuit is open, the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) changes to a certain control mode (example: the transmission of electric waves every 250 ms. that form the detection area stops).
If the result is not as specified, there may be a malfunction on the wire harness side.
(c) Reconnect the C35 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
(d) Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Inspection with Engine Switch Off
* *1: for Automatic Transaxle
* *2: for Manual Transaxle

3. CHECK ID CODE BOX (IMMOBILISER CODE ECU)
(a) Disconnect the C38 ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) connector.
(b) Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
If the result is not as specified, there may be a malfunction on the wire harness side.
(c) Reconnect the C38 ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) connector.
(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
(e) Inspect using an oscilloscope.

4. CHECK STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (STEERING LOCK ECU)
(a) Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
HINT
* *1: The steering locks when any door is opened with the shift lever in P (for Automatic Transaxle) and the engine switch off. The steering unlocks when the engine switch is turned on (ACC).
* *2: This DTC indicates an IG2 input malfunction. If the power source mode recognized by the power source control ECU and the power source mode recognized by the steering lock actuator assembly (steering lock ECU) do not match, this DTC is stored.
