P0607
2ZR-FE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: SFI SYSTEM: P0607: Control Module Performance
DTC P0607 - Control Module Performance
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
The ECM continuously monitors its internal processors (CPUs), and Heated Oxygen (HO2) sensor transistors built into the ECM. This self-check ensures that the ECM is functioning properly. If outputs from the processors deviate from the standards, the ECM will illuminate the MIL and set the DTC immediately.
NOTICE: An exhaust gas leak generates noise in the HO2 sensor output. The ECM may interpret this as an HO2 sensor transistor malfunction and set P0607.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT
(a) Connect a Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the tester on.
(d) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ETC / Trouble Codes.
(e) Read DTCs.
Result:
B -- CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
A -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT DTC (P0136, P0137 OR P0138)
- If P0136 is out put, troubleshoot for that DTC first P0136. Then proceed to step 6.
- If P0137 is out put, troubleshoot for that DTC first P0136. Then proceed to step 6.
- If P0138 is out put, troubleshoot for that DTC first P0136. Then proceed to step 6.
HINT: If P0607 and P0136, P0137 or P0138 are output, the output voltage of the heated oxygen sensor may remain close to 0 V or become high (around 1 V or more).
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
(a) Allow the engine to idle and rev the engine.
(b) Check for exhaust gas leak around the heated oxygen sensor.
If any exhaust gas leaks are present, repair it and proceed to step 4. If no exhaust gas leaks are present, proceed to step 4.
HINT:
- If no exhaust gas leaks are present, a malfunction in the heated oxygen sensor circuit is suspected.
- If any exhaust gas leaks are present around the heated oxygen sensor, noise appears in the output voltage of the heated oxygen sensor.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
4. PERFORM CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
(a) Clear DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(c) Warm up the engine until the engine coolant temperature becomes 75 °C (167 °F) or more.
(d) Perform the driving pattern.
(1) Accelerate the vehicle until 80 km/h (50 mph) and stop the vehicle.
(2) Drive the vehicle by 60 to 80 km/h (35 to 50 mph) for 5 minutes or more.
(e) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ETC / Trouble Codes.
(f) Read DTCs.
Result:
C -- INSPECT ECM
B -- REPLACE ECM
A -- Continue to next step.
5. INSPECT DTC (P0136, P0137 OR P0138)
(a) Inspect the P0136, P0137 or P0138 flow chart.
HINT:
- If P0136 is out put, troubleshoot for that DTC first P0136. Then proceed to step 6.
- If P0137 is out put, troubleshoot for that DTC first P0136. Then proceed to step 6.
- If P0138 is out put, troubleshoot for that DTC first P0136. Then proceed to step 6.
- If P0607 and P0136, P0137 or P0138 are output, the output voltage of the heated oxygen sensor may remain close to 0 V or become high (around 1 V or more).
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
6. INSPECT ECM
(a) Clear DTCs.
(b) Stop the engine and wait for 30 minutes.
(c) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(d) Start the engine and allow it to idle for 2 minutes.
(e) Turn the tester on.
(f) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ETC / Trouble Codes.
(g) Read DTCs.
Result:
B -- END
A -- REPLACE ECM
