SUSPENSION: REAR AXLE BEAM: REMOVAL
REMOVAL
1. REMOVE REAR WHEELS
2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID
NOTICE: Immediately wash off any brake fluid that comes into contact with any painted surfaces.
3. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
4. LOOSEN WIRE ADJUSTING NUT Removal
5. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH Removal
6. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER RH Removal
7. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 4 bolts, clamp, and rear floor side member brace sub-assembly.
8. SEPARATE SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE (for LH Side)
(a) Using a screwdriver, disconnect the connector from the rear speed sensor.
NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the rear speed sensor.
(b) Remove the nut and separate the 2 clamps and skid control sensor wire.
9. SEPARATE SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE (for RH Side)
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.
10. SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH
(a) Using union nut wrench (10 mm), disconnect the brake line while holding the rear flexible hose LH with a wrench.
- Do not bend or damage the brake line.
- Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt and dust to enter the brake line from the connection points.
(b) Remove the bolt and separate the rear flexible hose LH.
11. SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE RH
(a) Using union nut wrench (10 mm), disconnect the brake line while holding the rear flexible hose RH with a wrench.
NOTICE:
- Do not bend or damage the brake line.
- Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt and dust to enter the brake line from the connection points.
(b) Remove the clip and separate the rear flexible hose RH.
12. SEPARATE REAR BRAKE TUBE FLEXIBLE HOSE (for LH Side)
(a) Using union nut wrench (10 mm), disconnect the brake line while holding the rear brake flexible hose with a wrench.
NOTICE:
- Do not bend or damage the brake line.
- Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt and dust to enter the brake line from the connection points.
(b) Remove the clip and separate the rear brake flexible hose.
13. SEPARATE REAR BRAKE TUBE FLEXIBLE HOSE (for RH Side)
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.
14. REMOVE NO. 4 REAR BRAKE TUBE
(a) Remove the nut, and remove the No. 4 rear brake tube from the rear axle beam assembly.
15. REMOVE NO. 3 REAR BRAKE TUBE
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the No. 4 rear brake tube.
16. SEPARATE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the bolt.
(b) Disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder operation lever.
(c) Insert an offset wrench (14 mm) all the way into the clip of the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly as shown in the illustration to release the clip claws and separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH.
17. SEPARATE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
18. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH Removal
19. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.
20. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD
(a) Remove the 2 disc brake pads from the disc brake cylinder mounting LH Removal.
(b) Remove the 2 disc brake pads from the disc brake cylinder mounting RH.
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.
21. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING LH Removal
22. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.
23. REMOVE REAR DISC (for LH Side) Removal
24. REMOVE REAR DISC (for RH Side)
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.
25. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY LH Removal
26. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.
27. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE DUST COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
28. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE DUST COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
29. LOOSEN REAR AXLE BEAM ASSEMBLY
(a) Loosen the 2 bolts of the rear axle beam assembly.
NOTICE: Do not remove the bolts.
30. SEPARATE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Support the rear axle beam assembly using a jack and wooden block.
NOTICE: Do not excessively jack up the rear axle beam assembly.
HINT: Support the rear shock absorber assembly LH at a position where it compresses by approximately 20 to 30 mm (0.78 to 1.18 in.).
(b) Remove the bolt while holding the nut and separate the rear shock absorber LH.
NOTICE: Do not turn the nut.
31. SEPARATE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.
32. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING LH Removal
33. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.
34. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING UPPER INSULATOR LH
35. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING UPPER INSULATOR RH
36. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING LOWER INSULATOR LH
37. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING LOWER INSULATOR RH
38. REMOVE REAR AXLE BEAM ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and the rear axle beam assembly.
39. REMOVE REAR TRAILING BUSH LH
(a) Put a matchmark on the rear axle beam assembly so that the mark aligns with the arrow mark on the rear trailing bush LH. (If the rear axle beam assembly is reused)
(b) Using a chisel and hammer, bend the 2 ribs on the bush.
NOTICE: When removing the bush, do not erase the matchmark on the rear axle beam assembly.
(c) Using SST, remove the bush from the rear axle beam assembly.

40. REMOVE REAR TRAILING BUSH RH
