POWER STEERING: POWER STEERING GEAR: INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH





(a) Install the lock nut and the tie rod end sub-assembly LH to the steering gear assembly until the matchmarks are aligned.
HINT: After adjusting toe-in, tighten the lock nut.

2. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

3. INSTALL STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY





(a) Install the steering link assembly to the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque: 138 Nm (1407 kgf-cm, 102 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
- Make sure to tighten the bolts starting from the left side of the vehicle.
- Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Tighten the bolt with the nut fixed.

4. INSTALL STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT





(a) Align the matchmarks and install the steering intermediate shaft to the steering link assembly.
(b) Install the bolt.
Torque: 35 Nm (357 kgf-cm, 26 ft-lbf)
5. INSTALL NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Align the round hole in the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly with the protrusion of the steering link assembly to install the cover.
6. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation
7. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BRACE LH Installation
8. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BRACE RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

9. INSTALL FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Installation
10. INSTALL FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

11. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH





(a) Connect the tie rod end sub-assembly LH to the steering knuckle with the nut.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft-lbf)
NOTICE: Further tighten the nut up to 60° if the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned.

(b) Install a new cotter pin.
12. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

13. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH Installation
14. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

15. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REINFORCEMENT LH Installation
16. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REINFORCEMENT RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

17. INSTALL REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
18. INSTALL REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
19. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER
20. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER





21. INSTALL NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Attach clip B onto the body portion and install the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly onto the body portion with clip A.
NOTICE: Make sure that the lip portion of the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly is not damaged.

22. INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Installation
23. INSTALL COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET Installation
24. INSTALL FRONT WHEELS
Torque: 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)
25. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
