Removal








AIR CONDITIONING: AIR CONDITIONING UNIT: REMOVAL

REMOVAL
CAUTION: Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Service Precautions.

1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait for at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag from working.

3. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM Service and Repair
4. DISCONNECT SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the bolt.
(b) Turn the hook connector clockwise and disconnect the suction pipe.
(c) Remove the O-ring from the suction pipe.
NOTICE: Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent moisture and foreign matter from entering.

5. DISCONNECT AIR CONDITIONING TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the air conditioning tube.
(b) Remove the O-ring from the air conditioning tube.
NOTICE: Seal the opening of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent moisture and foreign matter from entering.

6. DISCONNECT HEATER OUTLET WATER HOSE





(a) Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the heater outlet water hose.

NOTICE:
- Do not apply excessive force to the heater outlet water hose.
- Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

7. DISCONNECT HEATER INLET WATER HOSE





(a) Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the heater inlet water hose.

NOTICE:
- Do not apply excessive force to the heater outlet water hose.
- Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

8. BOLTS, SCREWS AND NUTS TABLE Removal
9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH Removal

14. DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH LOWER PANEL Removal
15. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY Removal
16. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal
17. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY Removal

32. SEPARATE AIR CONDITIONING PANEL ASSEMBLY Removal
33. DISCONNECT NO. 2 HEATER CONTROL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
34. DISCONNECT AIR MIX DAMPER CONTROL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
35. REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE Removal
36. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
37. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB REINFORCEMENT Removal
38. REMOVE RADIO BRACKET Removal
39. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SEAL Removal
40. SEPARATE HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
41. SEPARATE ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
42. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
43. REMOVE STEERING PAD Removal
44. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Removal
45. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER Removal
46. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
47. REMOVE COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET Removal
48. SEPARATE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Removal
49. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY Removal
50. REMOVE REAR NO. 3 AIR DUCT





(a) Remove the clip.
(b) Turn back the floor carpet.





(c) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 3 air duct.
51. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT





(a) Remove the clip.
(b) Turn back the floor carpet.





(c) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear air duct.
52. REMOVE LOWER DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY





(a) Disengage the 6 claws and remove the lower defroster nozzle.
53. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL TO COWL BRACE





(a) Remove the 2 bolts and the center instrument panel to cowl brace.
54. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 2 nuts and the air duct.
55. SEPARATE RELAY BLOCK ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 2 screws and separate the relay block.
56. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Disengage the 7 clamps.





(b) Remove the 2 screws, 2 bolts, 2 nuts and the instrument panel brace.
57. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 AIR DUCT





(a) Disengage the 4 claws and remove the rear air duct.
58. REMOVE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY





(a) Disconnect the 2 connectors.
(b) Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and the power steering ECU.
59. DISCONNECT DRAIN COOLER HOSE





(a) Disconnect the drain cooler hose.
60. SEPARATE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE





(a) Separate the main body ECU.
(1) Disconnect the 5 connectors.
(2) Disengage the 2 clamps.
(3) Remove the 2 bolts and separate the main body ECU.
(b) Separate the connector holder.
(1) Remove the 2 bolts and the connector holder.
(c) Separate the No. 3 junction block.
(1) Remove the bolt.
(2) Disengage the clamp and separate the No. 3 junction block.
(d) Separate the No. 4 junction block.
(1) Remove the bolt.
(2) Disengage the clamp and separate the No. 4 junction block.
(e) Separate the wiring harness protector.
(1) Remove the bolt.
(2) Disengage the clamp and separate the wiring harness protector.
(f) Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire.





(g) Disconnect the connectors.
(h) Disengage the clamps.





61. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)
(a) Remove the 7 bolts.









(b) Remove the 3 bolts and the instrument panel reinforcement.
62. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)
(a) Remove the 6 bolts.









(b) Remove the 3 bolts and the instrument panel reinforcement.
63. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT





(a) Remove the bolt, nut and the air conditioning unit.
- Be sure to support the air conditioning unit assembly when removing it because failure to do so may cause the air conditioning unit assembly bracket to break.
- When disassembling the air conditioning unit, eliminate static electricity by touching the vehicle body to prevent the components from being damaged.

64. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the air duct.
65. REMOVE NO. 3 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the air duct.
66. REMOVE BLOWER ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 3 screws.
(b) Remove the blower unit as shown in the illustration.
