DESCRIPTION

for DTC B1620/21 and B1625/22:
The side airbag sensor LH and RH consists of the safing sensor, the diagnostic circuit, the lateral deceleration sensor, etc.
If the center airbag sensor receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS should be activated.
DTC B1620/21 or B1625/22 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the side airbag sensor LH or RH circuit.
for DTC B1622/81 and B1627/82:
The circuit for the side collision sensor RH or LH (to determine deployment of the front seat side airbag RH or LH, and curtain shield airbag RH or LH) is composed of the center airbag sensor, side airbag sensor RH or LH, and rear airbag sensor RH or LH.
The side airbag sensor RH or LH, and rear airbag sensor RH or LH detect impacts to the vehicle and send signals to the center airbag sensor to determine if the airbag should be deployed.
DTC B1622/81 or B1627/82 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the circuit for the side collision sensor RH or LH (to determine deployment of the front seat side airbag RH or LH, and curtain shield airbag RH or LH).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(b) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory DTC Check / Clear.
(c) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
(d) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(e) Check for DTCs DTC Check / Clear.

Result:

HINT: Codes other than DTC B1620, B1622, B1625 and B1627 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

B -- CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH
A -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK
C -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH

(a) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Interchange the side airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.
(d) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(f) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory DTC Check / Clear.
(g) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
(h) Turn the ignition switch to ON, wait for at least 60 seconds.
(i) Check for DTCs DTC Check / Clear.

Result:

HINT: Codes other than DTC B1620, B1622, B1625 and B1627 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
(j) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
(k) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(l) Return the side airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.
B -- REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
A -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK
C -- REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH
3. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH

HINT: Codes other than DTC B1620, B1622, B1625 and B1627 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
(j) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
(k) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(l) Return the side airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.
