Windshield Washer Motor: Testing and Inspection

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION





1. INSPECT FRONT WASHER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY
(a) Check the operation of the front washer motor and pump assembly.
(1) Fill the washer jar assembly with washer fluid.
HINT: The operation should be performed with the windshield front washer motor and pump assembly installed onto the washer jar assembly.
(2) Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 2 of the front washer motor and pump assembly, and the negative (-) battery lead to terminal 1. Check that washer fluid flows from the washer jar assembly.
OK:
Washer fluid flows from the washer jar assembly.
If the result is not as specified, replace the front washer motor and pump assembly.






2. INSPECT REAR WASHER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY
(a) Check the operation of the rear washer motor and pump assembly.
(1) Fill the washer jar with washer fluid.
HINT: The operation should be performed with the windshield rear washer motor and pump assembly installed on the washer jar assembly.
(2) Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 2 of the rear washer motor and pump assembly, and the negative (-) battery lead to terminal 1. Check that washer fluid flows from the washer jar assembly.
OK:
Washer fluid flows from the washer jar assembly.
If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield washer motor and pump assembly.
