AUDIO / VISUAL: FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER: REMOVAL
REMOVAL
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOWER FRAME BRACKET GARNISH LH Disassembly
3. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP COVER LH Disassembly
4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Disassembly
5. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Disconnect the connector.
(b) Drill out the 3 rivet heads using a drill with a bit diameter of less than 4 mm (0.16 in.), and remove the front No. 1 speaker from the front door panel.
(c) Operate the drill along the rivet head circumference and cut out the flange.
CAUTION: Be careful. The cut rivet is very hot.
NOTE: Prying the rivet using a drill may scratch the rivet hole or break the drill bit.
(d) Continue drilling and push out the remaining rivet fragments using the drill.
(e) Using a vacuum cleaner, remove the rivet fragments and shavings from the drilled areas.
