Timing Cover: Service and Repair



Engine Front Cover Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement) .
3. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the engine front cover bolts.




5. Remove the engine front cover to water pump bolt.




6. Remove and discard the engine front cover gasket.
7. Remove the crankshat front cover oil seal with an appropriate tool.
8. Remove and discard the friction washer.



Installation Procedure





1. Install a NEW crankshaft front oil seal. Refer to Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Installation (Overhaul) .
2. Install a NEW friction washer.
3. Position and install a NEW engine front cover gasket to the dowel pins.




4. Position and install the engine front cover.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

5. Install the engine front cover to water pump bolt.

Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).





6. Install the engine front cover bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

7. Install the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement (Service and Repair) .
8. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement) .
9. Install the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement (Service and Repair) .
