Throttle Body Replacement

TOOLS REQUIRED
^ J 43914 Universal Clamp Pliers

REMOVAL




1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove inlet hose assembly from throttle body.
3. Disconnect throttle body electrical connection.
4. Disconnect hose clamps from plenum-to-runner connector using Universal Clamp Pliers J 43914.




5. Remove intake plenum bolts.
6. Remove EGR passage bolt.
7. Rotate plenum up and remove throttle body coolant hoses, EVAP hose, and vacuum line from throttle body.




8. Remove throttle body nuts.
9. Remove throttle body.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: UPON REPLACEMENT OF NEW THROTTLE BODY, THE THROTTLE BODY RELEARN PROCEDURE MUST BE PERFORMED.

Throttle Body Relearn Procedure
^ Ignition Off for 10 seconds.
^ Ignition On, engine Off.
^ Make sure these engine operating parameters are met before proceeding:
a. ECT between and 100°C (43° and 212°F)
b. IAT greater than 6°C (43°F)
c. Ignition voltage above 10 volts
d. Accelerator pedal angle less than 14%
^ Leave ignition On for 1 minute with engine Off.
1. Install throttle body and new gasket.
2. Install throttle body nuts.

Torque:
Throttle Body Nuts: 8 N.m (71 in-lbs)

3. Attach vacuum lines, EVAP hose and coolant lines to throttle body.




4. Install EGR pipe bolt

Torque:
EGR Pipe Bolt: 25 N.m (19 ft-lbs)

5. Install intake plenum bolts.

Torque:
Intake Plenum Bolts: 8 N.m (71 in-lbs)




6. Connect intake plenum-to-runner universal clamp pliers using J 43914. If clamps are damaged, replace with service screw type clamps.
7. Connect throttle body electrical connector.




8. Install air cleaner inlet hose.
9. Connect negative battery cable.

Torque:
Battery Terminal bolt: 17 N.m (13 ft-lbs)

10. Verify coolant level and add if necessary.
