DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES P1051, P1052
Injector 5, output from control module low/high
No continuity or shorting to ground/batt+

Fault Symptom.
The engine runs on only five cylinders

Condition
No continuity or shorting to ground/B+ in the circuit to pin 15

Diagnostic Procedure.

NOTE: In connection with these diagnostic trouble codes there will probably also be a trouble code for incorrect fuel-air mixture.

1. Unplug the connector from the injector.
With the ignition switch in the DRIVE position, check whether battery voltage is present across pin 87 of the main relay and pin 1 of the injector connector.

If it is not, check the wiring between the valve and relay.

2. Measure the resistance across pins 1 and 2 of the injector. The correct resistance is 15.9 Ohms.

3. With the ignition switched OFF and all current consuming equipment disconnected, measure the resistance across pin 2 of the valve connector and a good grounding point on the engine.
The resistance should be 5100 kOhms for injectors 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6.
For injector 3 the resistance should be 2-20 kOhms because the main instrument display panel is connected in parallel to measure fuel consumption.

If the resistance does not coincide with these intervals, continue with the next step.

4. Check The Wiring between the MOTRONIC control module and the injector for continuity/shorting.

5. If possible, drive the car to see whether any fault symptoms are still present.

If they are, continue at "Before Replacing Control Module" for further diagnostic instructions. Before Replacing A Control Module
