DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE P1831
THE TRANSMISSION'S DOWN-SHIFT FUNCTION IS FAULTY

Fault symptom
Warning lamp CHECK GEARBOX lit.
The system's emergency program is activated.

Conditions.
Incoming rpm on the transmission during down-shift is greater than:
- 225 km/h to third gear,
- 132 km/h to second gear,
- 75 km/h to first gear.

Diagnostic procedure
1. The fault is probably a mechanical fault. The fault could hardly have occurred because of a fault in the control system.
2. Check transmission for wear.
