P0335
DTC P0335:
DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE PO335
CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, MALFUNCTIONING
Symptom of fault
The engine fails to start or misfires.
Condition
The sensor reads the wrong number of ribs (teeth) per crankshaft rotation.
Diagnostic procedure
1. Unplug the 3-pole connector of the crankshaft position sensor.
- Check the resistance of the crankshaft position sensor.
- Measure resistance in the sensor's connector (male), between pins 1 and 2.
The nominal resistance value is 540 ± 55 Ohms.
2. Crank the starter motor and at the same time measure the output from the crankshaft position sensor.
- Connect the voltmeter to the sensor's connector (male), between pins 1 and 2.
Nominal values are approx. 2 V ac and approx. 200 Hz.
- If the measured value is correct, continue with step 4.
- If the measured value is incorrect, continue with step 3.
DTC P0335:
3. Remove the crankshaft position sensor.
- Check that the sensor point is not fouled with metal chips.
- Check that the perforated disc is firmly attached to the crankshaft by carefully prying with a screwdriver.
- Brush off any metal chips.
- If the perforated disc is not fixed, repair as necessary.
- If there is no relevant cause for the fault, install a new crankshaft position sensor.
DTC P0335:
4. Check the ground and screening connection of the crankshaft position sensor.
- Unplug the crankshaft position sensor's connector.
- Measure the voltage between:
^ Batt + and pin 2 ___________ 12 V.
^ Batt + and pin 3 ___________ 12 V.
- Check the lead between pin 1 and pin 41 of the ECM for open circuit, short circuit and any stray current.
5. Erase the diagnostic trouble code and drive the car to see whether the DTC is generated again.
- If the diagnostic trouble code is registered, continue at "Procedure before replacing ECM".
- If the diagnostic trouble code is not registered, the action taken is correct. Otherwise the fault is intermittent in nature.
