B1309

Faulty movement.

Condition

Diagnostic trouble code B1309 is generated when the control module expects a motor to perform a movement but receives no confirmation of this movement from the corresponding potentiometer. This might be because the motor has jammed or stalled, the control module is wrongly programmed, etc. It can occur if the different motors are activated by means of the ISAT Scan Tool and if emergency operation is activated in an attempt to operate the hood.

Diagnostic Procedure

1 Check the diagnostic trouble code data and try to repeat the fault on the basis of this. If the fault cannot be repeated, clear the trouble code and operate the hood a few times to check whether the code is generated afresh.

2 If the fault can be repeated, ascertain the cause of the fault and rectify it.

3 The fault could be due to an open circuit in the wiring connected to one of the motors. If this is suspected, proceed with the measures described for the relevant diagnostic trouble code even though readouts of these cannot be obtained with the ISAT Scan Tool.

- Open circuit, main motor potentiometer:
B1317

- Open circuit, tonneau cover potentiometer:
B1323

- Open circuit, fifth bow potentiometer:
B1318

- Open circuit, fifth bow latch motor microswitch:
B1183

Note:It is impossible to recommend any particular or general diagnostic procedures since so many factors may be involved. Diagnosing the fault will therefore depend largely on the experience and intuition of the mechanic. It is up to the mechanic to draw the necessary conclusions and decide on the most suitable diagnostic procedures.

Important: The diagnostic trouble code may be generated when the different motors are run by means of the ISAT Scan Tool.
