Tonneau cover latch microswitch, open circuit.

Fault Symptom

"TOP CYCLE ERROR" is displayed on the SID. The boot lid lock cannot be released by means of the button on the inside of the driver's door.

Condition

Open circuit on pin 26 (K42) or 40 (K42).

Diagnostic Procedure





1 Connect an ISAT Scan Tool and read "TONNEAU LATCH".

Operate the tonneau cover so that both states of the microswitch (actuated/unactuated) are tested. Clear the trouble code if the Scan Tool shows correct readings. Check that the code is not generated afresh.

2 Unplug the defective microswitch's connector and connect jumper leads as follows:

- between pins 2 and 3 for actuated microswitch
- between pins 2 and 1 for unactuated microswitch

Observe the ISAT Scan Tool at the same time to check that the microswitch reading changes.

If the Scan Tool shows correct readings the microswitch is detective. Change the microswitch.

3 Connect a BOB and check the wiring harness for continuity between pin 2 of the microswitch connector and pin 26 (K42) of the control module for the left-hand microswitch and pin 40 (K42) for the right-hand microswitch.
