MVD 5 Speed - Automatic Transmission




Control Valve Body Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement - Left Side (Engine Splash Shield Replacement - Left Side).
3. Drain the automatic transaxle fluid.
4. Remove the automatic transaxle oil pan assembly.
5. Disconnect the transmission wire.
6. Disconnect the shift solenoid valve connectors (1-7).
7. Remove the bolt and lock plate, and disconnect the ATF temperature sensor.




8. Remove the bolts (1-3) and oil strainer.




9. Remove the O-ring (1) from the oil strainer.





Note: Be careful not to drop the check ball, spring or accumulator piston.

10. Support the valve body assembly and remove the bolts (1) and the valve body assembly.




11. Remove the check ball body and spring.
12. Remove the manual valve from the valve body assembly.




13. Remove the bolt and lock plate (1) from the valve body assembly.
14. Remove the shift solenoid valve SL3 (2) from the valve body assembly.
15. Remove the shift solenoid valve SLT (3) from the valve body assembly.




16. Remove the bolt (1) and shift solenoid valve S4 from the valve body assembly.




17. Remove the shift solenoid valve SR from the valve body assembly.




18. Remove the bolt (1) and shift solenoid valve DSL from the valve body assembly.




19. Remove the bolt, lock plate and shift solenoid valve SL2 from the valve body assembly.




20. Remove the bolt, lock plate and shift solenoid valve SL1 from the valve body assembly.

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution)

1. Install the shift solenoid valve SL1 and lock plate to the valve body assembly with the bolt. Tighten the bolt to 7 Nm (62 lb in).




2. Install the shift solenoid valve SL2 and lock plate (1) to the valve body assembly with the bolt. Tighten the bolt to 11 Nm (97 lb in).




3. Install the shift solenoid valve DSL to the valve body assembly with the bolt (1) and tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb in).




4. Install the shift solenoid valve SR to the valve body assembly.




5. Install the shift solenoid valve S4 to the valve body assembly with the bolt (1) and tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb in).
6. Install the shift solenoid valve SL3 to the valve body assembly.




7. Install the shift solenoid valve SLT and lock plate (1) to the valve body assembly with the bolt and tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb in).
8. Install the manual valve to the valve body assembly.




9. Install transmission valve body assembly.
10. Install the spring and check ball body.





Note:
* Push the valve body against the accumulator piston spring and the check ball body to install it.
* First, hand tighten the bolts marked (1) because they are positioning bolts.

11. Align the groove of the manual valve with the pin of the lever.
12. Install the valve body with the bolts and tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb in). Refer to Transmission General Specifications (Transmission General Specifications) for bolt length - A.




13. Coat a new O-ring with ATF WS.
14. Install the O-ring (1) to the oil strainer.




15. Install the oil strainer with the bolts (1-3) and tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb in).




16. Install the transmission wire. Refer to Control Valve Body and Wiring Harness Removal (4. Control Valve Body and Wiring Harness Removal)
17. Coat the O-ring with ATF WS.
18. Install the ATF temperature sensor with the lock plate and bolt and tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb in).
19. Connect the shift solenoid valve connectors (1-7).
20. Install the automatic transaxle oil pan assembly.
21. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
22. Install the engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement - Left Side (Engine Splash Shield Replacement - Left Side).
23. Add automatic transaxle fluid.
24. Inspect the transaxle fluid level.
