Seat Belt Retractor Pretensioner Replacement - Left Front

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to SIR Warning (SIR Warning).

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the front side door sill trim plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement (Front Sill) (Door Sill Plate Replacement (Front Sill))Door Sill Plate Replacement (Rear Sill) (Door Sill Plate Replacement (Rear Sill)).
3. Remove the rear side door sill trim plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement (Front Sill) (Door Sill Plate Replacement (Front Sill))Door Sill Plate Replacement (Rear Sill) (Door Sill Plate Replacement (Rear Sill)).
4. Remove the center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement (Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement).
5. Remove the center pillar upper trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement (Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement).




6. Disconnect the front seat belt tension sensor connector (1).




7. Remove the front seat belt lower anchor bolt trim cover (3).
8. Remove the front seat belt lower anchor bolt (4).




9. Remove the front seat belt upper anchor nut (2).
10. Remove the front seat shoulder belt guide (1).




11. Disconnect the pretensioner electrical connector (1).




12. Remove the following components from the vehicle:

* The upper bolt (2)
* The lower bolt (5)
* The front seat belt retractor (6)

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

1. Install the front seat belt retractor (6) to the vehicle. Secure the retractor with the upper bolt (2) and the lower bolt (5).

* Tighten the front seat belt retractor upper mounting bolt to 5 Nm (44 lb in).
* Tighten the front seat belt retractor lower mounting bolt to 41 Nm (30 lb ft).




2. Connect the pretensioner electrical connector (1).




3. Install the front seat shoulder belt guide (1). Secure with nut (2).

Tighten the nut to 41 Nm (30 lb ft).




4. Install the front seat belt lower anchor bolt (4) to the front lower anchor.

Tighten the anchor bolt to 42 Nm (31 lb ft).




5. Connect the front seat belt tension sensor connector (1).
6. Install the center pillar upper trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement (Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement).
7. Install the center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement (Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement).
8. Install the front side door sill trim plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement (Front Sill) (Door Sill Plate Replacement (Front Sill))Door Sill Plate Replacement (Rear Sill) (Door Sill Plate Replacement (Rear Sill)).
9. Install the rear side door sill trim plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement (Front Sill) (Door Sill Plate Replacement (Front Sill))Door Sill Plate Replacement (Rear Sill) (Door Sill Plate Replacement (Rear Sill)).




10. Install the front seat belt lower anchor bolt trim cover (3).
11. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).
