Throttle Body: Service and Repair




Throttle Body Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair)
2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair)




3. Remove the air cleaner cap with hose.
4. Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector (1).
5. Separate the 2 wire harness clamps (2, 3).




6. Disconnect the vacuum switching valve connector (2) and the 2 vacuum hoses (1, 3).




7. Disconnect the ventilation hose (1).




8. Loosen the air cleaner hose clamp (1), and unlock the 3 air cleaner assembly clamps (2, 3, 4) and remove the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with hose.




9. Remove the throttle body assembly.
10. Disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses (1, 2).




11. Disconnect the throttle body assembly connector (1).




12. Disconnect the throttle body hose (1).




13. Remove the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) and the throttle body assembly.




14. Remove the gasket (1) from the intake manifold.

Installation Procedure




1. Install a new gasket (1) onto the intake manifold.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the throttle body assembly with the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) and tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb ft)




3. Connect the throttle body hose (1).




4. Connect the throttle body connector (1).




5. Connect the 2 water by-pass hoses (1, 2).




6. Install the air cleaner cap with hose.
7. Install the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with hose and lock the 3 clamps (2, 3, 4).
8. Tighten the air cleaner hose clamp (1).




9. Connect the ventilation hose (1).




10. Connect the 2 vacuum hoses (1, 3) and the vacuum switching valve connector (2).




11. Connect the 2 wire harness clamps (2, 3) and the mass air flow meter connector (1).
12. Add engine coolant. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair)
13. Inspect for coolant leak.
14. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair)
