Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement




Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (GT)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the rear floor console. Refer to Rear Floor Console Replacement (Rear Floor Console Replacement).




2. Remove the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) and the console box upper support.
3. Turn back the floor carpet.




4. Remove the 5 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and the console box lower support.




5. Loosen the lock nut (1).
6. Loosen the adjusting nut (2).




7. Separate the park brake cable equalizer (1) from the rear park brake cable.
8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
9. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
10. Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (Rear Brake Rotor Replacement).
11. Remove the park brake hardware. Refer to Park Brake Hardware Replacement (All Wheel Drive and GT) (Service and Repair).




12. Remove the rear park brake cable clamp (1) from the body.




13. Remove the bolt (1) that retains the rear park brake cable to the body.




14. Remove the bolt (1).




15. Remove the bolt (1).




16. Remove the bolt (1) and separate the rear park brake cable (2) from the backing plate.




17. Remove the bolt (1).
18. Remove the rear park brake cable from the guide.




19. Remove the rear park brake cable (1) from the vehicle.




20. Disengage the 2 claws (1, 2) and remove the clamp from the rear park brake cable.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the clamp to the rear park brake cable and engage the 2 claws (1, 2).




2. Install the rear park brake cable into the guide.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Install the bolt (1) and tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb in).




4. Install the rear park brake cable (2) to the backing plate.
5. Install the bolt (1) and tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb in).




6. Position the rear park brake cable (1) on the body.




7. Install the bolt (1) in order to retain the rear park brake cable to the body and tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb in).




8. Install the bolt (1) and tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb in).




9. Install the bolt (1) and tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb in).




10. Install the rear park brake cable clamp (1) to the body.
11. Install the park brake hardware. Refer to Park Brake Hardware Replacement (All Wheel Drive and GT) (Service and Repair).
12. Install the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (Rear Brake Rotor Replacement).
13. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).




14. Install the rear park brake cable to the equalizer (1).
15. Adjust the park brake and tighten the nuts. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment (All Wheel Drive and GT) (Adjustments)Parking Brake Adjustment (Except All Wheel Drive and GT) (Adjustments).




16. Install the console box lower support with the 5 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and tighten to 27 Nm (19 lb ft).
17. Install the floor carpet around the console box lower support.




18. Install the console box upper support with the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) and tighten to 27 Nm (19 lb ft).
19. Install the rear floor console. Refer to Rear Floor Console Replacement (Rear Floor Console Replacement).
20. Lower the vehicle.
