Parking Brake Cable Equalizer Replacement (Front Wheel Drive)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the rear floor console. Refer to Rear Floor Console Replacement (Rear Floor Console Replacement).




2. Remove the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) and the console box upper support.
3. Turn back the floor carpet.




4. Remove the 5 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and the console box lower support.




5. Loosen the lock nut (1).
6. Loosen the adjusting nut (2).




7. Separate the park brake cable equalizer (1) from the left side park brake cable.
8. Separate the park brake cable equalizer from the right side park brake cable.




9. Disengage the 2 claws (1, 2) in order to separate the park brake cable end stopper from the front park brake cable.




10. Disengage the 2 claws (1, 2) in order to remove the park brake cable equalizer from the park brake cable end stopper.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the park brake cable equalizer to the park brake cable end stopper and engage the 2 claws (1, 2).




2. Install the park brake cable end stopper to the front park brake cable and engage the 2 claws (1, 2).




3. Install the left side park brake cable to the equalizer (1).
4. Install the right side park brake cable to the equalizer.
5. Adjust the park brake and tighten the nuts. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment (All Wheel Drive and GT) (Adjustments)Parking Brake Adjustment (Except All Wheel Drive and GT) (Adjustments).





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

6. Install the console box lower support with the 5 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and tighten to 27 Nm (19 lb ft).
7. Install the floor carpet around the console box lower support.




8. Install the console box upper support with the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) and tighten to 27 Nm (19 lb ft).
9. Install the rear floor console. Refer to Rear Floor Console Replacement (Rear Floor Console Replacement).
