2. Clean the brake pad retainers (5) in denatured alcohol or an equivalent brake parts cleaner.
3. Inspect the components for the following conditions:

* Sufficient rebound
* No deformation
* No cracks
* No wear
* No rust
* No dirt
If the components meet the above conditions, re-use the components.

4. Clean the following components in denatured alcohol or an equivalent brake parts cleaner.

* The bolts (9)
* The slide pins (2, 8)
* The caliper housing (1)

5. Use unlubricated, compressed air in order to dry the components

Installation Procedure

1. If the caliper piston is not compressed into the caliper bore, complete the following steps:

1. Wrap the handle of a hammer with tape.
2. Use the handle of a hammer in order to compress the caliper piston into the caliper bore.

2. Lubricate the 2 NEW slide pin boots (1, 2) with lithium soap base glycol grease or Silicone Brake Lubricant, or equivalent. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (Fluid Type Specifications).
3. Install the slide pin boots to the caliper bracket.

4. Lubricate the 2 slide pins (1, 2) with lithium soap base glycol grease or Silicone Brake Lubricant, or equivalent. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (Fluid Type Specifications).
5. Install the slide pins to the caliper bracket.

6. Align the match marks and install the 2 brake pad retainers (1, 2) to the caliper bracket in the correct position and direction.

7. Apply disc brake grease to the pad side of the 2 insulators (1, 3).

8. Ensure the disc brake grease covers the area where the insulators contact the pads (1).
9. Install the 2 insulators to the 2 brake pads.
10. Install the pads and the insulators to the vehicle. Refer to Rear Disc Brake Pads Replacement (All Wheel Drive and GT) (Rear Disc Brake Pads Replacement)Rear Disc Brake Pads Replacement (Except All Wheel Drive and GT) (Rear Disc Brake Pads Replacement).
