Hydraulic Brake Booster Pump: Service and Repair




Power Brake Booster Auxiliary Pump Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Release the engine wiring harness clip from the power brake booster vacuum pump bracket and position aside.




2. Loosen the 2 clamps and remove the charged air hose from the throttle body and the intake air pipe.
3. Disconnect the power brake booster auxiliary pump electrical connector.




4. Release the clamp and disconnect the power brake booster auxiliary pump to brake booster vacuum hose (1).




5. Remove the power brake booster auxiliary pump to engine bolt (1).




6. Remove the 2 power brake booster auxiliary pump to engine nuts (1).




7. Remove the power brake booster auxiliary pump and bracket (1) from the engine.




8. Remove the 2 power brake booster auxiliary pump to bracket nuts and bolts, if necessary and remove the pump from the bracket.

Installation Procedure




1. If removed, install the power brake booster auxiliary pump to the bracket.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install power brake booster auxiliary pump bolts and nuts and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
3. Position the power brake booster auxiliary pump and bracket to the engine.




4. Install the 2 power brake booster auxiliary pump nuts (1) and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).




5. Install the power brake booster auxiliary pump to bracket to engine bolt (1) and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).




6. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose (1) to the power brake booster auxiliary pump and install the clamp.
7. Connect the power brake booster auxiliary pump electrical connector.




8. Install the charged air hose to the throttle body and the intake air pipe and tighten the 2 clamps.
9. Install the engine wiring harness clip to the power brake booster vacuum auxiliary pump bracket.
