Fascia Replacement - Rear Bumper

Removal Procedure





1. Raise the rear compartment lid.

Notice: Refer to Tape Corners of Panel Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Apply tape to the fascia and adjacent surfaces.
3. Remove the rear compartment sill plate. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Cargo Area Rear (Removal and Replacement) in Interior Trim.
4. Remove the rear wheelhouse carpet panels. Refer to Mat/Carpet Replacement - Rear Wheelhouse (Service and Repair) in Interior Trim.
5. Remove the screws (6) from the left and right sides of the rear bumper fascia assembly (5) to the rear wheelhouse liner (1).
6. Remove the screws (2) from the left and right sides of the rear bumper fascia assembly (5) to the liner and rear bumper fascia outer support.
7. Carefully unclip the fascia assembly (5) from the guide assembly (3) by grasping the upper end of the fascia and pulling away from the vehicle.




8. Remove the nuts (1) from each side of the rear bumper fascia (4).
9. Remove the retainers (3) from below the rear bumper fascia (4).
10. Remove the center section of the rear compartment lid weatherstrip to allow access to the 4 upper retainers (2).
11. Remove the 4 upper retainers (2) from the rear bumper fascia assembly (4) to the rear bumper fascia center support assembly.
12. With the aid of an assistant, remove the bumper fascia (4) from the vehicle.
13. Remove the rear bumper fascia brackets from the rear bumper fascia, if necessary. Refer to Fascia Bracket Replacement - Rear Bumper (Fascia Bracket Replacement - Rear Bumper) .
14. Remove the rear bumper fascia filler panel, if necessary. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement - Rear Bumper (Filler Panel Replacement - Rear Bumper) .



Installation Procedure

1. Install the rear bumper fascia filler panel, if removed. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement - Rear Bumper (Filler Panel Replacement - Rear Bumper) .
2. Install the rear bumper fascia brackets to the rear bumper fascia, if removed. Refer to Fascia Bracket Replacement - Rear Bumper (Fascia Bracket Replacement - Rear Bumper) .




3. With the aid of an assistant, position the rear bumper fascia to the vehicle.
4. Install the nuts (1) to the rear bumper fascia assembly (4).
5. Insert the retainers (2) across the rear compartment lid opening.
6. Install the center section of the rear compartment lid weatherstrip.
7. Insert the retainers (3) below the rear bumper fascia assembly (4).




8. Align the left and right sides of the rear bumper fascia assembly (5) to the quarter panel and clip the fascia assembly into the rear bumper fascia outer support (3).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

9. Install the screws (2) to the left and right sides of the rear bumper fascia assembly (5).

Tighten the screws (2) to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

10. Install the screw (6) to the left and right sides of the rear bumper fascia assembly (5).

Tighten the screws (6) to 2 N.m (18 lb in).





11. Install the nuts (1) to the rear bumper fascia (4).

Tighten the nuts (1) to 8 N.m (70 lb in).

12. Install the rear wheelhouse carpet panels. Refer to Mat/Carpet Replacement - Rear Wheelhouse (Service and Repair) in Interior Trim.
13. Install the rear compartment sill plate. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Cargo Area Rear (Removal and Replacement) in Interior Trim.
14. Remove the protective tape that was applied.
15. Close the rear compartment lid.
