REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove camshaft carrier cover.
3. Using tool No. J-33302-25 or equivalent, Fig. 8, compress valve springs and remove rocker arms.
4. Remove camshaft sprocket. Refer to Camshaft, Lifters and Push Rods / Camshaft Gear/Sprocket. Service and Repair
5. Remove washer fluid container assembly.
6. On all models, disconnect spark plug wires from spark plugs, then remove distributor from engine.
7. Remove camshaft thrust plate from rear of camshaft carrier.
8. Slide camshaft rearward and remove camshaft from carrier.
INSTALLATION
1. Install new front oil seal onto camshaft carrier using fingers.
2. Position camshaft into carrier. Ensure not to damage front oil seal when installing camshaft.
3. Install camshaft thrust plate and bolts. Torque bolts to specifications.
4. Check camshaft endplay. Endplay should be within .016 to .064 inch.
5. Install distributor, camshaft sprocket, timing belt and timing belt front cover.
6. Using tool No. J-33302-25 or equivalent, Fig. 8, compress valve springs and install rocker arms.
7. Install camshaft carrier cover. Torque bolts to specifications.
