Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Circuit:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) is a hydraulic actuated clutch. The TCC solenoid receives ignition voltage through the TCC brake switch at terminal "4" of the 20-way transaxle connector. The TCC solenoid is energized when the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) provides a ground to CKT 422.

DTC 88 WILL SET WHEN
- No DTCs 21, 22, 28 and 56.
- Engine running.
- Not in park/neutral.
- Throttle angle 11 degrees or greater.
- TCC commanded "OFF."
- 3rd or 4th gear commanded.
- Slip speed between -5 and 10 RPM for 4 seconds.

ACTION TAKEN (PCM will fault to)
With a current DTC 88 set, the PCM will illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (Service Engine Soon).

DTC 88 WILL CLEAR WHEN
The fault no longer exists and the ignition switch is cycled "OFF" and "ON."

DTC CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.

1. This test checks the ground circuit to see if it's shorted to ground.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
With the test light connected to terminals "E" and "T", massage the engine harness if the test light goes "ON" and "OFF." Possible intermittent short to ground.
