Powertrain Controls - ECM/PCM
DTC 16 Chart:
PCM Power And Ground Circuits:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The PCM monitors system voltage on CKT 439 to terminal "D5". If the PCM detects voltage above 16 volts or below 10 volts for more than 10 seconds, DTC 16 will set.
DTC 16 WILL SET WHEN
- Engine RPM greater than 500.
- Voltage on CKT 439 is greater than 16 volts or less than 10 volts.
- Conditions exist for 5 seconds or greater.
ACTION TAKEN (PCM WILL DEFAULT TO)
- With a current DTC 16 set, the PCM will illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (Service Engine Soon).
- The PCM will disable the fuel evap. control solenoid, cruise control, torque converter clutch solenoid, exhaust gas recirculation solenoid, transaxle pressure control solenoid, and command only second gear anytime a forward gear is selected.
DTC 16 WILL CLEAR WHEN
The fault no longer exists.
DTC CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. This check compares system voltage to battery voltage.
2. This checks the ignition voltage supply to the PCM terminal "D5."
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
An intermittent may be caused by a poor wire connection, rubbed through wire insulation, or a wire broken inside the insulation.
