DTC B1703: Encrypted code inconsistent

CAUTION:
Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

DTC SET CONDITION

The encrypted code sent by the transponder is not the same encrypted code which is registered in the ETACS-ECU.
NOTE:
DTC B1703 is always set together with MFI system DTC P0513.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS

- The encrypted code in the ignition key has not been properly registered
- Malfunction of ETACS-ECU

DIAGNOSIS

Required Special Tools:

- MB991958: Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III Sub Assembly)
- MB991824: V.C.I.
- MB991827: M.U.T.-III USB Cable
- MB991910: M.U.T.-III Main Harness A

Register all the ignition key encrypted codes again, and recheck the diagnostic code.

(1)Register all the ignition keys again. (Refer to Encrypted Code Registration Criteria Table.)





(2)Connect scan tool MB991958 to the data link connector.
(3)Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(4)Use scan tool MB991958 to check ETACS system diagnostic trouble codes.
(5)Turn the ignition switch to "LOCK"(OFF) position.
(6)Disconnect scan tool MB991958.

Q. Is DTC B1703 set?

YES Replace the ETACS-ECU and register the ID codes. (Refer to Encrypted Code Registration Criteria Table.) After registering the ID codes, check if the diagnostic code is set.

NO The procedure is complete.
