Vehicles With Radio and CD Player
Inspection Procedure 2: The USB adapter data cannot be replayed. [Vehicles with radio and CD player]
CAUTION:
Before replacing the hands free module, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
If the sound replay is impossible with the USB mode, the USB adapter, USB cable, hands free module, or radio and CD player may be defective, or a communication error between the radio and CD player and hands free module may have occurred.
NOTE:
Before troubleshooting, check that the music file (the customer tried to replay) can be replayed.
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- The radio and CD player may be defective.
- The hands free module may be defective.
- The USB adapter may be defective.
- The USB cable may be defective.
- The wiring harness or connectors may have loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
- MB991223: Harness Set
- MB992006: Extra Fine Probe
STEP 1. Check the radio and CD player operation.
Check if the radio and CD player work normally and the sound is output.
Q. Is the check result normal?
YES Go to Step 2.
NO Troubleshoot the radio and CD player (Refer to Symptom Chart).
STEP 2. Check the diagnosis mode
Check if the hands free module can be switched to the diagnosis mode.(Refer to Vehicles With Radio and CD Player.)
Q. Is the check result normal?
YES Go to Step 3.
NO Perform Inspection Procedure 5 "DIAGNOSIS MODE cannot be made an entry."(Refer to Inspection Procedure 5.)
STEP 3. Check the USB adapter.
Check that the continuity exists between the front side terminals of USB adapter and rear side terminals of USB adapter. (Refer to Hands Free Module)
Q. Is the check result normal?
YES Go to Step 4.
NO Replace the USB adapter.
STEP 4. Check the USB cable.
Check that the USB cable is connected to the USB adapter or hands free module normally.
Or check the USB cable for damage such as bend.
Q. Is the check result normal?
YES Go to Step 5.
NO Replace or repair the USB cable.
STEP 5. Check hands free module connector C-11 and radio and CD player C-109 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.
Q. Are hands free module connector C-11 and radio and CD player C-109 in good condition?
YES Go to Step 6.
NO Repair or replace the damaged component(s). Harness Connector Inspection.
STEP 6. Check the wiring harness between hands free module connector C-11 (terminal 22, 8) and radio and CD player connector C-109 (terminal 3, 12).
- Check the signal lines for open circuit and short circuit.
Q. Is the wiring harness between hands free module connector C-11 (terminal 22, 8) and radio and CD player C-109 (terminal 3, 12) in good condition?
YES Go to Step 7.
NO The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary.
STEP 7. Replace the hands free module temporarily, and check the trouble symptom.
Replace the hands free module temporarily, and check that the sound is output from the speaker.
Q. Is the check result normal?
YES Replace the hands free module.
NO Replace the radio and CD player.
