COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If the screen is not displayed with ACC-ON, the multi-center display may be faulty, power supply circuit may be faulty or the screen off mode may be set.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- The multi-center display may be defective
- The wiring harness or connectors may have loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector

DIAGNOSIS

Required Special Tools:
- MB991223: Harness Set
- MB992006: Extra Fine Probe

STEP 1. Check if the screen off mode is set.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
2. Check that the transition to the screen off mode is performed after a few seconds.

Q: Is the screen off mode set?

YES : Set to cancel the screen off mode. Recheck the trouble.

NO : Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check multi-center display connector C-32 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.

Q: Is multi-center display connector C-32 in good condition?

YES : Go to Step 3.

NO : Repair the damaged parts.

STEP 3. Check the battery power supply circuit to the multi-center display. Measure the voltage at multi-center display connector C-32.

1. Disconnect multi-center display connector C-32 and measure the voltage available at the wiring harness side of the connector.

2. Measure the voltage between terminal 26 and ground.
- The voltage should measure approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage).

Q: Is the measured voltage approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage)?

YES : Go to Step 5.

NO : Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check the wiring harness between multi-center display connector C-32 (terminal 26) and the battery.

- Check the wiring harness for open circuit and short circuit.

NOTE: Also check joint connector C-01 and intermediate connector C-29 for loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If joint connector C-01 and intermediate connector C-29 are damaged, repair or replace the damaged component(s).

Q: Is the wiring harness between multi-center display C-32 connector (terminal 26) and battery in good condition?

YES : No action is necessary and testing is complete.

NO : The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary.

STEP 5. Check the battery power supply circuit to the multi-center display. Measure the voltage at multi-center display connector C-32.

1. Disconnect multi-center display connector C-32 and measure the voltage available at the wiring harness side of the connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ACC" position.

3. Measure the voltage between terminal 25 and ground.
- The voltage should measure approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage).

Q: Is the measured voltage approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage)?

YES : Go to Step 7.

NO : Go to Step 6.

STEP 6. Check the wiring harness between multi-center display connector C-32 (terminal 25) and ignition switch (ACC).

- Check the wiring harness for open circuit and short circuit.

NOTE: Also check joint connector C-03 and intermediate connector C-29 for loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If joint connector C-03 and intermediate connector C-29 are damaged, repair or replace the damaged component(s).

Q: Is the wiring harness between multi-center display C-32 (terminal 25) and ignition switch (ACC) in good condition?

YES : No action is necessary and testing is complete.

NO : The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary.

STEP 7. Check the ground circuit to the multi-center display. Measure the resistance at multi-center display connector C-32.

1. Disconnect multi-center display connector C-32 and measure the resistance available at the wiring harness side of the connector.

2. Measure the resistance value between terminal 28 and ground.
- The resistance should be 2 ohms or less.

Q: Is the measured resistance 2 ohms or less?

YES : Go to Step 9.

NO : Go to Step 8.

STEP 8. Check the wiring harness between multi-center display connector C-32 (terminal 28) and ground.

- Check the ground wire for open circuit.

NOTE: Also check joint connector C-03 for loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If joint connector C-03 is damaged, repair or replace the damaged component(s).

Q: Is the wiring harness between multi-center display connector C-32 (terminal 28) and ground in good condition?

YES : No action is necessary and testing is complete.

NO : The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary.

STEP 9. Check if the screen is displayed with ACC-ON.

1. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
2. Check that the screen is displayed to the multi-center display.

Q: Is the screen is displayed with ACC-ON?

YES : The procedure is complete.

NO : Replace the multi-center display.
