DTC B1323 Ignition Switch (IG1)

Ignition Switch(IG1) Circuit:

CIRCUIT OPERATION
Power for the convertible top control module is supplied by the power window relay, and the ignition switch (IG1) inputs ON/OFF signal only as the necessary information for control.

DTC SET CONDITION
When ON signal is not input from the ignition switch (IG1) though the power is supplied by the power window relay, an error in the ignition switch (IG1) signal line is suspected and this DTC is set.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- Malfunction of the ignition switch (IG1) signal line
- Malfunction of the convertible top control module

DIAGNOSIS

Required Special Tool
- MB991958: Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III Sub Assembly)
- MB991824: V.C.I.
- MB991827: M.U.T.-III USB Cable
- MB991910: M.U.T.-III Main Harness A
- MB992006: Extra fine probe

STEP 1. Using scan tool MB991958, check data list.
Use scan tool MB991958 to check the following service data. Data List Reference Table
- Item 05: IG1 SW

OK: "ON" appears when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.

Q: Is the check result satisfactory?

YES : Go to Step 2.

NO : Go to Step 4.

STEP 2. Check convertible top control module connector D-45 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.






Q: Is the check result satisfactory?

YES : Go to Step 3.

NO : Repair or replace the damaged component(s).

STEP 3. Measure the voltage at convertible top control module connector D-45.






1. Disconnect convertible top control module connector D-45, and measure at the wiring harness side.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.






3. Measure the voltage between terminal 43 and ground.
- The measured value should be approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage).

Q: Is the check result satisfactory?

YES : Go to Step 4.

NO : Check the wiring harness between convertible top control module connector D-45 (terminal 43) and ignition switch (IG1). Repair as necessary.

STEP 4. Recheck the DTC.

Q: Is DTC B1322 set?

YES : Replace the convertible top control module.

NO : Intermittent malfunction (Refer to General (Body and Chassis), How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
