DTC P0513: Immobilizer Malfunction

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
- ECM or PCM monitors the communication condition with the immobilizer-ECU and the message from the immobilizer-ECU, and when the abnormality is found, ECM or PCM makes the engine not to start.

DTC SET CONDITIONS

Check Conditions
- Ignition switch: ON

Judgment Criteria
- When the communication error between ECM or PCM and the immobilizer-ECU continues for 2 seconds or more.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (The most likely causes for this code to be set are:)
- Malfunction of immobilizer-ECU.
- Malfunction of ECM or PCM .

DIAGNOSIS

Required Special Tools:
- MB991958: Scan Tool (MUT-III Sub Assembly)
- MB991824: V.C.I.
- MB991827: USB Cable
- MB991911: Main Harness B

STEP 1. Using scan tool MB991958, read the immobilizer diagnostic trouble code (DTC).

CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958.

1. Connect scan tool MB991958 to the data link connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
3. Read the immobilizer system-DTC
4. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.

Q: Is the immobilizer -DTC set?

YES: Refer to, Ignition Switch and Immobilizer System - Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart. Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions

NO: If DTC P0513 is output again after the MFI-DTC has been erased, replace the ECM or PCM . Then check that the DTC P0513 does not reset.
