Pinpoint Test P: One Or More Parking, Rear Or License Plate Lamps Are Inoperative

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 92, Parking, Rear and License Lamps for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

The Central Junction Box (CJB) supplies voltage to the Lighting Control Module (LCM). When a request for the parking lamps is detected, the LCM provides voltage to the parking and license plate lamps.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Fuse
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- LCM

PINPOINT TEST P: ONE OR MORE PARKING, REAR OR LICENSE PLATE LAMPS ARE INOPERATIVE

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

-------------------------------------------------
P1 DETERMINE IF ALL THE PARKING LAMPS ARE INOPERATIVE

- Ignition OFF.
- Place the headlamp switch in the PARKING LAMPS ON position.
- Are all of the parking and license lamps inoperative?

Yes
GO to P2.

No
GO to P4.

-------------------------------------------------
P2 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE LCM

- Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
- Disconnect: LCM C2145d.
- Measure the voltage between the LCM C2145d-23, circuit 195 (TN/WH), harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
GO to P3.

No
VERIFY the CJB fuse 25 (15A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR circuit 195 (TN/WH) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation. If not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. Diagrams By Number

-------------------------------------------------
P3 BYPASS THE LCM

- Connect a fused jumper wire between the LCM C2145d-23, circuit 195 (TN/WH), harness side and the LCM C2145d-10, circuit 14 (BN), harness side.

- Do the parking lamps illuminate?

Yes
REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to P5.

No
REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR circuit 14 (BN) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
P4 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE PARKING LAMP

- Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
- Disconnect: Inoperative Parking or License Plate Lamp.
- Place the headlamp switch in the PARKING LAMPS ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the inoperative lamp, harness side and ground as follows:

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
REPAIR circuit 57 (BK) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR circuit 14 (BN) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
P5 CHECK FOR CORRECT LCM OPERATION

- Disconnect all the LCM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the LCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new LCM. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
