Removal and Installation
All vehicles
1. Remove the D-pillar trim panels.
2. Remove the pin-type retainers from the rear of the headliner.
3. Remove the handle assemblies from the headliner.
- Disconnect the handle assembly screw covers.
- Remove the handle assembly screws.
4. Lower the rear of the headliner to gain access to the electrical connectors.
5. Disconnect the electrical connectors and the routing clips.
6. Disconnect the rear washer hose routing.
7. Disconnect the grommets from the vehicle body.
- Position the wiring harness through the vehicle body.
- Position the rear washer hose routing through the vehicle body.
Vehicles with power liftgate
8. Remove the power liftgate rod-to-liftgate cover and nut.
- To install, apply threadlock to the threads of the fastener and tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb-in).
9. Remove the power liftgate rod from the liftgate.
All vehicles
10. Support the liftgate in the open position.
11. Remove the liftgate struts.
12. With help from an assistant, remove the liftgate hinge-to-liftgate bolts.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
13. With help from an assistant, remove the liftgate.
14. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Check liftgate alignment. For additional information, refer to Liftgate Alignment Adjustments.
- If equipped with power liftgate, initialize the power liftgate system. For additional information, refer to Power Liftgate Initialization Programming and Relearning.
