Pinpoint Test AB: DTC B1317 Or DTC U3003:17 (Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM))
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 130, Audio System/Navigation for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number
Normal Operation
- DTC B1317 (Battery Voltage High) - set by the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) (V1) as a continuous or on-demand DTC if the APIM detects high battery voltage above 15.8 volts for greater than 250 milliseconds on circuit SBP03 (BU/RD).
- DTC U3003:17 (Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Above Threshold) - set by the APIM (V2) when the supply voltage is greater than 15.8 volts for more than 250 milliseconds during normal operation.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Charging system concern
- APIM
PINPOINT TEST AB: DTC B1317 OR DTC U3003:17 (APIM)
NOTICE: DTC B1317 or DTC U3003:17 may be stored in the module memory due to past battery charging or vehicle jump starting events.
-------------------------------------------------
AB1 CHECK FOR HIGH VOLTAGE DTCs SET IN OTHER MODULES
- Ignition ON.
- Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.
- Is DTC B1317, B1676 or P0563 (PCM) set in more than 1 module?
Yes
REFER to Charging System to diagnose an overcharging condition.
No
GO to AB2.
-------------------------------------------------
AB2 CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGE
- Turn off all interior/exterior lights and accessories.
- Start and run the engine at approximately 2,000 rpm for 3 minutes while monitoring the battery voltage.
- Does the battery voltage rise to 15.5 volts or higher?
Yes
REFER to Charging System.
No
GO to AB3.
-------------------------------------------------
AB3 RECHECK FOR DTC B1317 OR DTC U3003:17
- Turn the engine off.
- Ignition ON.
- Clear the continuous memory DTCs.
- Carry out the APIM self-test.
- Is DTC B1317 or DTC U3003:17 present?
Yes
INSTALL a new APIM. REFER to Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM). TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set previously during battery charging or while jump starting the vehicle.
