Test V: The Traction Assist Indicator Is Never/Always On
PINPOINT TEST V: THE TRACTION ASSIST INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ONNormal Operation
The instrument cluster receives the traction assist data from the ABS module over the high speed controller area network (HS-CAN) communication bus. The traction assist indicator flashes when the vehicle traction control is in active mode or is being controlled by the ABS module. The traction assist indicator turns on steady if the traction assist system has been disabled through the traction assist switch or if a fault condition exists in the system. The instrument cluster monitors the traction assist message from the ABS module and either flashes the traction assist indicator or turns it on steady depending on the condition. If the traction control message is missing for more than 5 seconds, the instrument cluster sets DTC U0121 in continuous memory and defaults the traction assist indicator on.
