Normal Operation
The restraints control module (RCM) monitors all of the deployable device circuits for a cross link between circuits. If the RCM detects a short between the circuits of one deployable device and another deployable device, it will store a DTC for each of the cross linked loops in memory. The RCM sends a message to the instrument cluster module to flash a LFC of the 2 cross link DTCs (or higher priority code if one exists) on the air bag warning indicator. When a normal loop fault is present (one loop is either shorted to battery/ground, has an open circuit or has low resistance), then crosslink diagnostics will not be active. Once the normal loop fault is repaired, then the crosslink diagnostics will resume.
