Lamp Fault Codes (LFCs)

The lamp fault code (LFC) indicates the specific fault associated with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1884.

Normal Operation
When the ignition is in the ON position, the PAD indicator prove-out period is initiated by the restraints control module (RCM). The RCM briefly activates the PAD indicator to verify to the occupants correct functional operation of the PAD indicator.

If the RCM detects an open or short to ground on the PAD indicator circuit, it will store DTC B1884 in memory, flash LFC 1-8 on the air bag indicator and the secondary air bag warning chime will be activated.

Possible Causes
A PAD indicator circuit open can be caused by:
- wiring, terminals or connectors.
- a faulted RCM.
- a faulted PAD indicator.
