Normal Operation
The fuel pump gauge sender receives a reference voltage signal from the instrument cluster through circuit 29 (YE/WH), and returns the fuel level signal to the instrument cluster through circuit 1843 (BK/OG). The fuel level is determined using a variable resistance fuel sender unit, with an approximate resistance range between 15 ohms at empty (E) and 160 ohms at full (F) ±1%. The instrument cluster interprets this signal and commands the fuel gauge to sweep to the correct level.
Possible Cause
- circuit 29 (YE/WH) open, short to ground, or short to voltage
- circuit 1843 (BK/OG) open, short to ground, or short to voltage
- fuel pump gauge sender
- fuel tank
- instrument cluster
