Test E: The Headlamps Are On Continuously

PINPOINT TEST E: THE HEADLAMPS ARE ON CONTINUOUSLY

E1-E4:

E4-E6:

Normal Operation
Under normal operation, when the headlamps are turned OFF, the headlamp switch sends a ground signal to the smart junction box (SJB) through circuit 1400 (TN/WH).

When the headlamps are turned ON, the headlamp switch sends a ground signal to the SJB through circuit 1402 (RD/WH). The SJB then sends voltage to the headlamp low beams through (LH) circuit 1338 (WH) and (RH) circuit 1336 (LG/WH).

When the high beams are selected, the multifunction switch provides a ground signal to the SJB through circuit 1708 (LG/BK). The SJB then sends voltage to the headlamp high beams through circuit 1337 (VT/YE).

When the flash-to-pass feature is activated, the multifunction switch provides a ground signal to the SJB through circuit 196 (DB/OG). The SJB then sends voltage to the headlamp high beams through circuit 1337 (VT/YE).

Possible Causes
- An open in circuit 1400 (TN/WH)
- A short to voltage in circuit 1338 (WH), 1337 (VT/YE) or 1336 (LG/WH)
- A short to ground in circuit 1402 (RD/WH), 196 (DB/OG) or 1708 (LG/BK)
- Headlamp switch
- Multifunction switch
- Smart junction box (SJB)
