Normal Operation
The Restraints Control Module (RCM) monitors the passenger safety belt pretensioner circuit loop at RCM C310b pins 23 and 24, circuits 1081 (YE/RD) and 1082 (YE/BK). If the RCM detects a high resistance, (greater than 3.7 ohms), it will set Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B1881. If it detects a low resistance (less than 0.7 ohm) it will store B1886 in memory and flash Lamp Fault Code (LFC) 47 (or higher priority code if one exists) on the air bag indicator.
Possible Causes
A passenger safety belt pretensioner circuit open or low resistance can be caused by:
^ an open or high resistance on circuit 1081 (YE/RD) or 1082 (YE/BK).
^ circuits 1081 (YE/RD) and 1082 (YE/BK) shorted together.
^ a passenger safety belt pretensioner internal fault.
^ an RCM internal fault.
