Tests AG: DTC B1869 or B1870 - Air Bag Indicator CKT Open/Short to Battery

Normal Operation
If the restraints control module detects an open or short to battery on the air bag warning indicator circuit, it will store Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B1869 or B1870 in memory. If any other DTCs are detected, the RCM will route the associated Lamp Fault Codes (LFCs) to the tone generator in the GEM. The tone generator will sound in the same pattern as an LFC DTCs B1869 and B1870 will not cause the tone generator to sound.

Possible Causes
An air bag indicator circuit open or short to battery can be caused by.
^ an open or short to battery on circuit 608 (BK/YE).
^ an instrument cluster internal concern.
^ an RCM internal fault.
