Rear Knuckle: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove the front disc brake rotor.
2. Carefully raise the staked portion of the front axle wheel hub retainer and remove the retainer.
3. Remove the (A) cotter pin and the (B) tie rod end nut from the tie rod end.
4. Use Tie Rod End Separator to separator the tie rod end from the front wheel knuckle.
5. On ABS equipped vehicle, remove the anti-lock brake system (ABS) sensor.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the sensor.
6. Remove the ball joint nut and the pinch bolt.
7. Separate the front suspension lower arm ball joint from the front wheel knuckle.
8. Remove the strut and spring assembly bolts from the front wheel knuckle.
9. Separate the strut and spring assembly from the front wheel knuckle and remove the knuckle.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE: Apply Threadlock 262 E2FZ-19551B or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G351-A6 to the ball joint nut and pinch bolt threads.
