Power Steering Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVAL





1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.





3. Remove the lower splash shield.
4. Remove the accessory drive belt.





5. Disconnect the power steering pump high pressure line union.
^ Drain the fluid into a suitable container.





6. Disconnect the power steering pump low pressure hose.





7. Remove the power steering pump.
^ Remove the four power steering pump bolts.





8. Remove the power steering pump pulley.

INSTALLATION














1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Bleed the power steering system.

NOTE:
^ If a new power steering pump is being installed the unions that are supplied fitted to the pump should be removed and saved for future use.





^ Install a new union O-ring onto the unions using Teflon Seal Replacer Set.
