Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the steering column.
2. Remove the floor console.
3. Remove the radio chassis.







4. Remove the control opening finish panel.
1 Remove the four screws.
2 Disconnect the headlamp dimmer switch electrical connector.
3 Remove the finish panel.







5. Remove the climate control assembly screws.







6. Remove the climate control assembly.
^ Disconnect the electrical connectors.
^ Disconnect the vacuum lines.







7. Lower the central junction box.
^ Pull the lever and swing the central junction box down.







8. Disconnect the central junction box electrical connectors.







9. Disconnect the five harness electrical connectors.







10. Position the RH kick panel
1 Remove the push pins.
2 Remove the screw.
3 Position the kick panel.







11. Position the RH kick panel insulation.







12. Disconnect the RH kick panel electrical connectors.
1 Disconnect the antennae wire connector.
2 Remove the ground strap bolt.
3 Disconnect the four RH kick panel electrical connectors.







13. Remove the ground strap bolt.
14. Remove the A-pillar trim panels.







15. Remove the center LH instrument panel retaining bolts.







16. Remove the LH instrument panel retaining bolt.







17. Remove the center RH instrument panel retaining bolts.







18. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel main mounting bolt covers.
1 Position the LH and RH door weather stripping.
2 Remove the bolt covers.

NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.







19. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel main mounting bolts

NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.







20. Partially remove the instrument panel to access and disconnect the following components.
^ Instrument interface module electrical connector.
^ Assembly line diagnostic link connector bracket.
^ Defroster tubes.
^ Radio amplifier electrical connectors.
^ A/C electronic door actuator motor.
^ Anti-theft module electrical connector.







21. Remove the instrument panel.







22. Remove the instrument panel support bracket bolt.







23. Remove the instrument panel support.
1 Remove the A/C evaporator housing retaining bolts.
2 Remove the support bracket nut.
3 Remove the instrument panel support bolts.
4 Remove the support.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
