Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the brake booster. Service and Repair
3. Remove the brake booster support brackets.
1 Remove the start inhibitor switch.
2 Remove the four retaining nuts.
4. Remove the brake booster support brackets.
1 Remove the brake booster bracket support bracket.
2 Unclip the air conditioning pipe bracket.
3 Remove the brake booster support brackets.
4 Remove the brake booster actuator rod grommet assembly.
5. Disconnect the hydraulic control unit electrical connector.
1 Pull the locking slide sideways.
2 Disconnect the electrical connector.
6. Disconnect the hydraulic control unit brake tubes.
1 Disconnect the brake tube joint unions.
2 Disconnect the brake tubes.
7. Remove the hydraulic control unit bracket left-hand side bolts.
8. Remove the hydraulic control unit bracket right-hand side bolts.
9. Remove the hydraulic control unit and bracket assembly.
CAUTION: Do not damage the clutch feed pipe.
10. Remove the hydraulic control unit from the bracket.
1 Loosen the retaining nuts.
2 Rotate and disengage the hydraulic control unit.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the hydraulic control unit to the bracket.
1 Rotate and engage the hydraulic control unit.
2 Tighten the retaining nuts.
2. Locate the hydraulic control unit and bracket assembly in the vehicle.
CAUTION: Do not damage the clutch feed pipe.
3. Install the right-hand side bolts.
4. Install the left-hand side bolts.
5. Connect the hydraulic control unit brake tubes.
1 Connect the brake tubes.
2 Connect the brake tube joint unions.
6. Connect the hydraulic control unit electrical connector.
1 Connect the electrical connector.
2 Push the locking slide inwards.
7. Install the brake booster support brackets.
1 Install the brake booster actuator rod grommet assembly.
2 Install the brake booster support brackets.
3 Clip the air conditioning pipe bracket in place.
4 Install the brake booster bracket support bracket.
8. Secure the brake booster support brackets.
1 Install the four retaining nuts.
2 Install the start inhibitor switch.
9. Install the brake booster. Service and Repair
10. Reconnect the battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.
