Power Window Switch: Testing and Inspection

MASTER SWITCH
Testing of the window regulator control switches should be performed with the window regulator control switches removed from the vehicle. Use a self-powered test lamp or Rotunda Digital Volt-Ohmmeter 014-00407 or equivalent.

The master window regulator control switch is provided B+ through Pin C523-2. Ground is provided through Pin C523-3. Power for switch illumination is provided through Pin C503-10. Ground for switch illumination is provided through Pin C523-3. The following switch continuity tests are done with the lockout switch closed.
1. With window regulator control switch in NEUTRAL position, there should be continuity between Pins for connector C503-1, C503-2, C503-3, C503-4, C503-6, C503-7, C503-8 and C503-9 and Pin C523-3 for connector C523.
2. With window regulator control switch in raised RH front position, there should be continuity between Pin C523-2 and Pin C503-1.
3. With window regulator control switch in lower RH front position, there should be continuity between Pin C523-2 and Pin C503-2.
4. With window regulator control switch in raised RH rear position, there should be continuity between Pin C523-2 and Pin C503-3.
5. With window regulator control switch in lower RH rear position, there should be continuity between Pin C523-2 and Pin C503-4.
6. With window regulator control switch in raised LH rear position, there should be continuity between Pin C523-2 and Pin C503-8.
7. With window regulator control switch in lower LH rear position, there should be continuity between Pin C523-2 and Pin C503-9.
8. With window regulator control switch in raised LH front position, there should be continuity between Pin C523-2 and Pin C503-6.
9. With window regulator control switch in lower LH front position, there should be continuity between Pin C523-2 and Pin C503-7.
10. If window regulator control switch does not test as stated, replace the window regulator control switch.

SINGLE SWITCH
B+ for front passenger window regulator control switch illumination is provided through Pin C603-5. Ground for window regulator control switch illumination is provided through Pin C603-4.
1. With window regulator control switch in NEUTRAL position, there should be continuity between Pins C503-7 and C503-3, and between Pins C503-6 and C503-1.
2. With window regulator control switch in raised position, there should be continuity between Pins C503-1 and C503-2.
3. With window regulator control switch in lower position, there should be continuity between Pins C503-2 and C503-7.
4. If window regulator control switch does not test as stated, replace the window regulator control switch assembly.
