F Traction Control Actuator Inoperative

NOTE:
- Perform Inspection and Verification before performing this pinpoint test.
- To clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's), refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code, Erasing. Clearing Trouble Codes

APPLICABLE DTC's:
C1491, C1492, C1493, C1451, C1452, C1453

F1- Check Throttle Actuator Circuit
- Turn ignition switch to "OFF".
- Disconnect connectors C130 and C132 from anti-lock control module and connect breakout box and adapter to harness.
- Measure the resistance and between breakout box pins 28 and 32.
- Is resistance less than 5 ohms?
YES
- Go to F2.
NO - Go to F4.

F2- Check Anti-lock Brake Indicator Lamp
- Remove breakout box and adapter.
- Inspect, clean and reconnect both connectors to HCU.
- "START" the vehicle and observe the anti-lock brake indicator lamp.
- Is the anti-lock brake indicator lamp illuminated?
YES
- Replace the anti-lock brake relay and go to F3.
NO - The fault was intermittent. The ABS and Traction control system should be considered operational at this time and no further action is required. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's.

F3- Check Anti-Lock Brake Control Module
- "START" the vehicle and observe the anti-lock brake indicator lamp.
- Is the indicator illuminated after 5-10 seconds?
YES
- Replace the HCU. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.
NO - The fault was corrected in the previous step. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's.

F4- Check Resistance Of Circuit 15S (GN/Y)
- Disconnect the traction control actuator C142.
- Measure the resistance between pin 28 at the breakout box and traction control actuator C142, circuit 15S (GN/Y)
- Is resistance less than 5 ohms?
YES
- Go to F5.
NO - Service circuit 15S (GN/Y) for open circuit. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.

F5- Check Resistance Of Circuit 31S (BK/Y)
- Measure the resistance between pin 31 at the breakout box and traction control actuator C142, circuit 31S (BK/Y).
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
YES
- Go to F6.
NO - Service circuit 31S (BK/Y) for open circuit. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.

F6- Check Circuit 15S (GN/Y) for Short
- Measure the resistance between pin 28 and pin 5 of the breakout box.
- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
YES
- Go to F7.
NO - Service circuit 15S (GN/Y) for short to ground. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.

F7- Check Circuit 31S (BK/Y) For Short
- Measure the resistance between pin 32 and pin 5 of the breakout box.
- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
YES
- Replace traction control actuator. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.
NO - Service circuit 31S (BK/Y) for short to ground. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.
