NOTE:
- Perform Inspection and Verification before performing this pinpoint test.
- To clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's), refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code, Erasing. Clearing Trouble Codes

Traction Control Actuator Throttle Position Cable Sensor Failure

C1495-1 Check Traction Control Indicator Lamp Operation
- Turn ignition switch to "OFF".
- Press the accelerator pedal to the floor.
- Turn ignition switch to "RUN".
- Is the traction control indicator lamp illuminated?
YES
- Adjust accelerator cable then repeat C1495-1. Refer to Powertrain Management. If traction control indicator lamp illuminates after cable adjustment, go to C1495-3.
NO - Go to C1495-2.

C1495-2 Check Traction Control Lamp
- Leave the ignition in the "RUN" position and release the accelerator pedal.
- Is the traction control indicator lamp illuminated?
YES
- Replace traction control throttle actuator. Clear DTC's and retest system.
NO - System is operational. Clear DTC's.

C1495-3 Check Traction Control Actuator Cable Position sensor Circuits For Short To Ground
- Disconnect connector C130 from anti-lock control module and connect breakout box and adapter to harness.
- Measure the resistance between breakout box pin 5 and pins 11, 12 and 19.
- Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
YES
- Go to C1495-5.
NO - Go to C1495-4.

C1495-4 Check For Traction Control Actuator Throttle Position Sensor Internal Short
- Disconnect the traction control actuator throttle position sensor C140.
- Measure the resistance between breakout box pin 5 and pins 11, 12 and 19.
- Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms between all pins?
YES
- Replace traction control actuator. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.
NO - Service shorted harness between hydraulic control unit and traction control actuator. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.

C1495-5 Check resistance of Circuit 9 (BR/R)
- Disconnect connector C130 from anti-lock control module and connect breakout box and adapter to module and harness.
- Disconnect the traction control actuator throttle cable position sensor C140.
- Measure the resistance between the breakout box pin 12 and the traction control actuator throttle cable position sensor C140, circuit 9 (BR/R).
- Is resistance 5 ohms or less?
YES
- Go to C1495-6.
NO - Service circuit 9 (BR/R) for open circuit. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.

C1495-6 Check Resistance Of Circuit 8 (W/R)
- Measure the resistance between the breakout pox pin 19 and the traction control actuator throttle cable position sensor C140, circuit 8 (W/R)
- Is resistance 5 ohms or less?
YES
- Go to C1495-7.
NO - Service circuit 8 (W/R) for open circuit. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.

C1495-7 Check Resistance of Circuit 7 (Y/R).
- Measure the resistance between the breakout box pin 11 and the traction control actuator throttle cable position sensor C140, circuit 7 (Y/R).
- Is resistance 5 ohms or less?
YES
- Go to C1495-8.
NO - Service circuit 7 (Y/R) for open circuit. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.

C1495-8 Check Resistance Of Traction Control Actuator Motor Throttle Position Sensor
- Turn ignition switch to "OFF".
- Disconnect the breakout box from the anti-lock brake control module C132. Leave the breakout box connected to the harness.
- Reconnect traction control C140.
- The throttle should be in the closed position.
- Measure the resistance between pin 12 and pin 11 at the breakout box.
- Is resistance between 4,000 and 8,000 ohms?
YES
- Go to C1495-9
NO - Replace traction control actuator. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.

C1495-9 Check Resistance Of Traction Control Actuator Throttle Position Return Circuit
- Measure the resistance between pin 12 to pin 19 at the breakout box.
- Measure the resistance between pin 11 to pin 19 at the breakout box.
- Is resistance between 1,000 and 6,500 ohms?
YES
- Go to C1495-10.
NO - Replace traction control actuator. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.

C1495-10 Check Supply To Throttle Cable Position Sensor
- Reconnect the anti-lock brake control module C132 to the breakout box.
- Turn ignition switch to "RUN".
- Measure the voltage between pin 11 and pin 12 at the breakout box.
- Is the voltage between 4.4 and 4.8 volts?
YES
- Leave multimeter connected and go to C1495-11.
NO - Replace hydraulic control unit. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.

C1495-11 Check Voltage While Pressing Throttle
- Press the accelerator pedal slowly to the floor while measuring the voltage at breakout box pins 12 and 19.
- Does the voltage ramp up smoothly and end between 3.7 and 4.2 volts?
YES
- System is operational at this time. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.
NO - Replace traction control actuator. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.
