Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Service and Repair
NOTE:^ Vehicles with ABS and Traction Control have a redundant speed control deactivation control switch added to the proportioning valve.
^ Vehicles without ABS, a junction block is used.
^ The brake pressure control valve assembly is serviced only as an assembly.
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the brake inlet tubes and the outlet tubes from the brake pressure control valve.
2. Remove the bolt retaining the brake pressure control valve assembly to the control valve bracket. Remove the assembly from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Position the brake pressure control valve as an assembly on the control valve bracket which is attached to the master cylinder. Install the retaining bolt to secure the valve to the bracket.
2. Connect the rear brake outlet tubes to the brake pressure control valve. Tighten the tube nut to 14-20 Nm (10-15 ft. lbs.).
3. Connect the inlet tubes to the brake pressure control valve. Tighten the tube nut to 14-20 Nm (10-15 ft. lbs.).
4. Bleed the brake system.
5. Retest vehicle.
