Brake Fluid Reservoir






NOTE: Whenever the brake master cylinder reservoir is removed from the brake master cylinder, new grommets must be installed.

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect brake fluid level warning switch.
2. Remove brake master cylinder filler cap from brake master cylinder reservoir.
3. On vehicles with ABS, disconnect the hydraulic control unit supply hose from the brake master cylinder reservoir fitting and secure in a position to prevent loss of brake fluid.
4. Remove primary reservoir port from brake master cylinder by prying upward with rod or long screwdriver. For vehicles with ABS remove the front locating pin and rock the brake master cylinder reservoir up and away from the rear locating pin.
5. Remove secondary brake master cylinder port in same manner and discard complete brake master cylinder reservoir as an assembly.
6. Remove grommets from brake master cylinder.

INSTALLATION
1. Coat new grommets with clean brake fluid and press into brake master cylinder.
2. Coat brake master cylinder reservoir with clean brake fluid and press new reservoir assembly into grommets.

NOTE: For vehicles with ABS, assemble reservoir retaining legs on pins while pressing reservoir ports into grommets.

3. Connect fluid level indicator switch.
4. Fill brake master cylinder reservoir with specified DOT-3 brake fluid to between MAX line and 4.0 mm (0.16 inch) below MAX line
5. Check for leaks.
